How to identify left and right parts

Vehicle sides are defined facing the direction of travel. Imagine sitting inside and looking forward. Facing the car from outside reverses your viewpoint.

Checks, step by step

  1. Specify both front/rear and left/right for a door. Fenders, mirrors and lamps also need a side. Avoid relying only on ‘driver side’, since steering-wheel position varies.

  2. Photograph the car and mark the part location. Write the required side in the request. A mirrored image or an illustration containing a pair does not establish which item is offered.

  3. Check the side against the catalogue number and offer description. Photograph any LH or RH marking in full. Before payment, make sure name, number and side all describe the same item.
